The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan on Thursday said that they are trying to form a team for the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan after several of their star players showed reluctance to tour Pakistan even to play the shortest format.

The BCB were contemplating splitting the Test and Twenty20 International (T20I) series between the two countries scheduled to take place in Pakistan early next year.

However, the latest statement from the BCB President to the media in Dhaka has put the T20I series in doubt as well.

“We have already communicated [to the PCB] that we are trying to send a team for the T20s if the players are willing,” Nazmul was quoted as saying by The Daily Star. “If the players and the staff are willing and we can manage to form a good team, then we will send our team. Some of our star players have said that they don't even want to play the T20s.”

“We are awaiting government clearances. We have already gotten approval from one section and awaiting other instructions. We need clearance from the security agencies. One thing is certain, we won’t force any player to go,” he added.

Nazmul also explained the rationale behind Bangladesh players and coaching staff’s unwillingness to tour Pakistan.

“Many of the coaching staff has already informed us that they don’t want to go. Some of them have said that they do want to go but only for a short period; only a handful though wanted that as most of the foreign staff do not want to go,” he said. “One of the factors in their decision was their families. Many in their families are very anxious about the Pakistan series. The second factor is how long they can prevail in such a security environment. It is fully secure and very much a closed-off environment. This is what the majority of the players are saying. They do not want to stay that long under such a security environment.”

“Those who have wanted to go, said that they want to go and play the T20s and return inside one week,” he added.

Tell them to F off then. Don't care about T20s but if they don't want to come to Pak for tests then we get a walk over and win the series/get the points. Simple as.

We are bothering because it unfortunately sets a precedent that other teams will now follow. Trust me, most teams will be very reluctant to tour Pakistan and if Bangladesh refuse to tour then it gives them the perfect excuse.

The PCB needs to realise that they are still in a situation where they rely heavily on the goodwill of countries to show a willingness to tour.

Unfortunately Pakistan in this instance must bow to the demands of Bangladesh and schedule the T20 tour only.

no. we tried with SL and WI - they both came. trying non stop with England, Australia, India and now for some reason Bangladesh, and being turned down wont help the cause.

you could just as well argue that organising a t20 series is an accession to their declaration of risk, and sets a worse precedent that they are right and the PCB agrees.

and it could be argued that slamming the door in their faces sets the precedent that no politicking is acceptable anymore, and there has to be a full on proper justification.

of course it will be difficult building trust again, but to do that its better to work with a team that will be cooperative than some shit team that is a lapdog to money.

Right now let ICC take a call and set the precedent.

ICC sent it Official for SL tour and now they can't turn around and say it was unsafe to do so.

Similarly BD women and underage team have visited Pakistan proving that BCB believes it is save to tour Pakistan but under pressure it canceled the tour and lost the points while doing so.

Precedent must be set that if you forfeit the tour you lose point along with it.

It is preferable to be Man of Understanding then to be a Man of Knowledge.

Who will we play once the door has been slammed on everyones face? The ICC will not get involved in this type of issue and believe me it just gives the justification to other countries to also abstain from coming. Pakistan puffing its chest out here will gain it nothing.

The way we are treating Bangladesh is incredibly patronising and is reminiscing of the attitide that caused them to break from Pakistan in the first place. They are not second class citizens and no matter how a team performs it should not be dismissed in the way many Pakistanis are dismissing Bangladesh.

The ONLY solution is to take excuses away from them one step at a time. Bring them for the T20 with a smile on our faces, then bring them for tests with a bigger smile. However, on the inside remember their stance and then take revenge in a timely manner.

Diplomacy is needed. If BCB are being a joke then call them for a 5 match T20i series. Host it well. Make some cash.

Call bigger teams for t20is. SA etc.
    ODIs and Tests will folllow.

No point in losing a T20 tour at the moment. Host this series well and it will become much easier

    Very good post.

BCB should be called in how they like it. We need to stick together. Call them in for T20s. Then go to them for t20s and tests. Then call then in for tests again.
They should start building a rivalry now to benefit both countries. No point of hurting each other
