[PSL] Islamabad United Fans Thread

A lot of the groundwork for the Islamabad team that will be competing in the Pakistan Super League has been laid down.

Calling on all Islamabad United fans to discuss anything related to the team before, during and after the tournament.

This is the team we have so far on our hands after the first day of draft has ended.

Islamabad United squad: Shane Watson, Andre Russell, Misbah-ul-Haq, Samuel Badree, Mohammad Irfan, Brad Haddin, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Sami, Khalid Latif.

I was a bit opposed to Khalid Latif's inclusion, but on second thought, with Watto and Sharjeel opening, Khalid Latif can be used as a strong bench player in case Watto isn't available or we want to use him lower down the order.

Also remember that only 5 overseas players will be allowed in the playing XI, so it is good that they went for a lot of Pakistani options.

 

We have KING, so nothing can match our Squad

 

Badree and Sharjeel are another great addition

 

Misbah and Warne are ver poor picks.

Dont forget misbah was dropped in BpL as well after few failures. Had only one good inning.

 

lets hope Misbah don't go for his jiggar Ajmal lol

 

Also, Irfan isnt a t20 bowler.. and Sami is a serial choker.

 

You seriously going to judge him from BPL pitches where 80% of the games had scores no more than 105 per innings

 

Andre Rusell can make up for it

 

He didn't do much in last domestic t20 tournament either.

And he has been figured out.. dont expect maxwell or smith bowling to him. Most captain will bring pacera for him ans he is a nightwatchman against half decent pacers.

To be honest the other Pakistani bowlers aren't world beaters either. I wish we had picked Umar Gul, but that didn't happen. Sami can still be very good on his day.

Misbah is a gamble, but he'll bring fans to the ground and hopefully rise to the challenge. Probably be his only season in the PSL if he doesn't.

Probably the worst team picked so far along with Quetta. But let's hope we can make amends with some good picks from the silver category.

Lmao, they actually picked him as a platinum category player lulz. Makes that pick even more ridiculous haha.

 

How does this platinum diamond category work?

 

They made five different categories for the draft - Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging - And players that were placed in the platinum category will receive the highest salary ($140,000).

Geniuses at PCB decided put Tanvir in the platinum category lulz... And Karachi picked him lmao. So now he's one of the highest paid players in the league. :rofl

 

Hahahaha but what if someone wanted Tanvir, let's say last round.. He'd still be a platinum player right?

Bte Tanvir is a good t20 bowler. But platinum....

 

Teams had to pick 3 platinum players each first up. They were only allowed to pick players from the platinum category in the first three rounds. Players that were left unpicked in platinum after 3 rounds were relegated to the lower category.

Hafeez went unsold from the platinum category so he was demoted to diamond and was picked by Peshawar from that category.

 

Wasted a platinum pick on Haddin. Could have easily picked a keeper from Gold or silver category. Mushfiq ur Rahim would have been a good choice

 

Has Chandimal been picked? Islamabad should've gotten Chandimal, he's 100x better than Haddin.

This is my local team so I guess I should support them but I don't like the 'United' name and the only two players I would want to watch in this team are Babar and Irfan (because of Wasim being there to guide him).

 

Babar should be batting over Misbah.

 

Good picks in Babar and Ghulam.

This is my second favorite team; good luck.

 

Not very happy with Ajmal's signing. He is done for and there is no way Misbah will not play him in the playing XI. Oh well, I guess we should tolerate him for a season given his accomplishments for Pakistan.

 

As I live in Germany and my parents are from a village near of Sialkot, so decided to support Islamabad.

 

Haddin's not a platinum player. :slap

 

Replace Sami with Rumman Raees in the above line up and we're good to go
