Haris Sohail pulled out due to Covid and that gives Fawad Alam a chance to get in. I'd play Fawad at 5 while Shafiq at 6 where Shafiq has done well mostly throughout. Some bizarre choices in Sohail Khan recalled back after 2016 and the justification by Misbah is that he did well in that 2016 Eng tour and we need senior players with experience. Imran Khan and Kashif Bhatti being the others. Sarfraz should be considered for T20s maybe but Rizwan should be played in all 3 tests regardless of how he performs at least should be getting all the tests.

What kind of line and length should the opening bowlers target? Also will Naseem and Shaheen bowl 2 overs each if Yasir is going to bowl 9 overs? Also will Yasir bowl 9 in one go or will it be in 2 spells? What if they don't get bowled out after tea time, who will you bowl then? Would you take the new ball? Haris Sohail is not in the squad? Who will bowl in his place then?
Opening bowlers should bowl up to the batsmen as much as possible. I know getting your length right straightaway is difficult. You would start on slightly back of the length that good length and give couple of drive me balls in between to make the batsmen greedy and go for that drive and edge it to keeper slips lbw bowled. Shaheen and Abbas will bowl 9 overs with that new ball, then Yasir Shah will come into the attack in 10th over and bowl till lunch break - this constitutes 9 overs from 10 till 26, Naseem Shah will bowl 4 overs from other end and then Shaheen will come back for a return spell as he is the leader of this bowling attack. Harris Sohail's overs will be bowled by Fawad Alam.
They are more likely to get out cheaply in first innings as these are English conditions where its difficult to bat when its cloudy. When sun comes out, it gets easier to bat... Sun usually comes out on 2nd, 3rd and 4th day and its a perfect time to bat at that time. In the middle part of the test match, its easier to bat. Its difficult to bat on day 1 early morning till afternoon and on day 5 with some assistance for spinners.
