Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja is in shock over the bowling lineup selected by the head coach-cum-chief selector, Misbahul Haq, for the upcoming two-match Test series against Australia down under.

Although Musa Khan and Nasim Shah have potential, but they are only 18 year old and have never toured Australia,” said Raja. “On what basis have you selected two 18-year-olds thinking they will become world beaters when they don’t know what line and length to bowl in Australia.”

“You can give chance to one young bowler but you can’t base your entire attack on them. It is understandable to give chances to youngsters in T20s, but you can’t take such big risks in Test cricket,” he added.

Imran Khan senior is making a comeback after two years and is only suited for Asian conditions,” he said. “We needed a pacer like Mohammad Hasnain who could bowl at 150 KPH speed and hit the deck hard. Similarly, Mohammad Nawaz should have been selected, who is performing well and was part of the Test squad in last tour to Australia.”

“I can already tell you that with this bowling attack, we have absolutely no chance to win in Australia,” he added.

Raja wasn’t optimistic about Pakistan’s chances in the Test series against Australia.

“We should have gone with the intention to win in Australia rather than just to give them a fight,” he said. “If the team fails to deliver in Australia, selectors can’t rely on the excuse of giving chances to youngsters and the team going through a transition phase.”

“Commentators like Ian Chappell already suggest that Australia should stop inviting Pakistan due to our past performances down under. Another defeat in Australia will not be acceptable to fans and will take Pakistan cricket further down,” he concluded.

Dont quite agree with Rameez. Youngesters always bring something new to the table and fresh energy! Somebody who is unorthodox whom you havent seen before can cause you trouble and its these two youngsters who are going to cause real damage to Australians as they havent seen them, there is a bit of surprise about them! They bowl quick and can dent Aus if unleashed and allowed to bowl in their own way, just give them a license to run in and let it go!!

Misbah is doing the right thing by throwing the young pacers at deep end! They will spring some surprise for sure! Also would love to see Mohd Irfan on bouncy Aussie pitches!!

Misbah's sorry ass is actually in panic.
He is having a knee-jerk reaction to the pressure he is getting to select youngsters instead of Akmals and Shehzads - but - he totally lost the plot that you don't select 18 years old youngsters and send them straight to Australia to play Test cricket. Even a blind EFF knows that this is NOT how it works.

You select the youngsters and expose them into home LOI int'l games like we had a chance against Sri Lanka, or perhaps in some games in UAE.

If you know how to read, try again and see what Ramiz is saying. Don't just react with a knee jerk reaction just by reading the the thread title - but then again, you are a Misbah lover, so can't really blame you.

Exactly, these critics want it both ways. I'd rather take these youngsters than some slow medium pacers.

Misbah goes from one extreme to the other...either selects very old players or very young.

Im all for selecting youngsters but sending such an inexperienced attack is a recipe for complete disaster.

I believe the rational behind their selection is that our head coach wants to play aggressive cricket.

However, I find the follow totally opposite.

Our experienced pacers Amir and Wahab Riaz retired from test cricket and Hassan Ali is suffering from back problems. Abbas and Shaheen are the experienced bowlers whereas its good to see Imran Khan back. As far as likes of Rahat Ali and Sohail Khan and others are concerned, they are either too old in case of Sohail or lack penetration in case of Rahat, therefore it was important we threw young blood specially pacers at deep end as they will atleast offer something different - raw pace!!

Lets be honest, he didn't have much choice.

Amir, Wahab quit, Hassan is injured. That's your 3 certain starters gone. This leaves only Abbas and Shaheen. Those 2 are in the squad. Misbah needed to pick another 2-3. He has a choice, either go for Rahat, Shinwari, Junaid or pick the 2 youngsters. He's gone for what most of us cry for when we see Rahat and Junaid bowling which is pace and new faces!

Not a fan of Misbah's new role but he's done what most of us would have liked him to do.
Abbas, Afridi and Musa/Nasim is the best this country has right now.

Credit where it is due, these are great picks from Misbah. I am tired of us playing boring defensive cricket with have beens of the past or slow medium pacers. At least this will make it exciting.
