Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi’s autobiography has been in limelight ever since it is launch.

Now it has come to fore that Afridi in his books says his four daughters will not be allowed to play sport outdoors.

In his just-released biography Game Changer, Afridi wrote that he’d made that ruling ‘for social and religious reasons’.

The veteran all-rounder, who holds the record for most sixes in ODI history, has four daughters – Aqsa, Ajwa, Asmara and Ansha.

“Aqsa is in the 10th grade, Ansha is in the ninth. They’re both great at sports and even better in academics,” Afridi wrote.

“Ajwa and Asmara are the youngest and love to play dress-up. They have my permission to play any sport, as long as they’re indoors. Cricket? No, not for my girls. They have permission to play all the indoor games they want, but my daughters are not going to be competing in public sporting activities.

“It’s for social and religious reasons that I’ve made this decision and their mother agrees with me. The feminists can say what they want; as a conservative Pakistani father, I’ve made my decision,” Afridi wrote.

    Probably because of the culture/tribe.

Afridi is still quite modern considering the norms and values of his tribe.

what an insult to Pakistan women's cricket team and all the other women who compete in outdoor sports and represent their countries with pride and honour.

downright pathetic from a very backward, small-hearted and narrow-minded man, also a hypocrite too, enjoying all the fruits of playing an international sport whilst not allowing any of his daughters to ever play it even if they had the talent or desire to do so.

How is it pathetic to anyone else ? This is about his own daughter and until they are not legally old enough to take thekr decision, he can decide whatever is better for them. He is not their enemy but father and will do whatever he thinks is best for them. How is that linked to any other women respect ?

What? There is nothing wrong in what he said and what he decided for his daughters. Every thing men do it is not necessary that women can/should do it too. This gender equality is a joke. Tell to the advocates of gender equality that first bring a woman President in USA (the country who's voice is the loudest in such matters) and then we will talk.

It is very painful to see Muslims calling this as backward thinking. Cricket is not for girls simple as that. I 100% agree with Lala and his decision is 100% correct. Your thinking is backward not his.

On that token there is a gender pay gap in US & Canada as well.

    upload_2019-5-9_9-59-53.png

Icing on the cake, men are allowed to work longer than ladies (based on retirement age) and mostly hold key and influential positions.

Also, they talk about women rights snd gender equality blah blah but then at work, women are not supposed to work as much as men just because they are women. They want equality in everything but not in work.

Its high time people realise that Almighty has created men and women with their own strengths and weaknesses and they can not be equal in everything.

You will see men get higher salary jobs. BBC top 12 earners are men not women. If you work in a supermarket the salary will be same obviously.

Its not about higher salary job and the fields youre talking about are media oriented where everyone gets paid different irrespective of being man or women. Some men at BBC might be earning less than women so its a completely different field.

In corporate field everyone gets paid same as long as it is the same job.

This reply reminds of a joke that Omar Shareef once cracked.

He looks at the audience and says, "Aik hota hai Imran Khan ka Patha". And he takes a pause and says, "Aur aik hota hai .........?"

Someone in the crowd screams on top of his lungs and says, "Ullu ka Patha !!"

Omar Shareef says, "Mujhay maloom tha aya hoga, aur khud he boleyga".

I mean seriously, why would you even write such a reply when Afridi already predicted the triggering of snow flakes?

    Agree with everything @MNA said

There is a high possibility they all idolize their father and would dearly love to be a cricketer like him but their father is never going to let them carry out this dream.

If you deprive somebody you love of stuff that makes them happy then Is it really love? Do you really have their best interests at heart or your own ego and pride?

What is wrong with feminism? Why are you against women having equal opportunities in life including sports?

He would'nt making this 'decision' for his sons, would he?

This forum attracts certain type of people, like-minded in their exclusive and backward approach and thinking towards women and their rights, who like to gang up on anyone who has a different opinion labeling them as feminist Nazis and such, some of them are losers of first order in their actual lives.

There is a reason why this forum has virtually no active female posters.

There is a thing called freedom of speech. Anyone can disagree with anyone on a forum likd in all other threads. Stop being sensitive.

Youre entitled to your opinion and them to theirs but quite nice of calling others backward with opposing views and at the same time playing victim card. Good on you.

    Lol what the hell.

Look at this advocate of freedom carrying the torch of human rights while calling people backward and losers because they don’t agree with his views. Perfect example of double standards

Calling others, “backward and losers”, is also an act of Freedom of Speech, isn’t it?

I don’t think it’s double standards but the tone of his message made me think to offer him a napkin.

You know for the sake of a few dollars today his daughters will forever be asked if their father deprived their dream.

Its not feminists who are triggered it's legit damaging to his family life.

The man has sold his fellow cricketers out, his country out and now the own personal matters of his family out for money lol
