50% of 4 or so games? So 2 off days? Compare that to years of dominating batsmen.
Dominating who? He struggles against world-class batsman like Sangakkara and Kohli! Even SL are beginning to nullify him as he is losing his potency! He has a poor Test Record overseas as he is often the lone spinner in Tests! His record is not good against SA in 7 Tests(4 in UAE) only won 1!
He's dominating the intl circuit, that's why he's ranked so highly. A few bad matches don't change that. About his record vs SA,
A) That's ONE team
B) That's the team record. Not just Ajmal's.
Wahab Riaz is only world class bowler in this world no one can compete with him..
Ajmal is part of the team but he's had 4 golden opportunities on spinning pitches to prove his prowess when the conditions where in his favour. World Class players win games even it is stacked against them! Ajmal is not a big match-winner which is why you can't call him world class. Even Tredwell performs every game consistently
Even Afridi is more consistent than Wahab Riaz.
Ajmal was and is a world class spinner.
What are you abusing? Calling Afridi consistent is a joke in itself. You're contradicting the word's definition. How is Ajmal world-class when he does not win matches? Even Herath wins more games... People only remember match-winners!
Ajmal has won many matches... Once you realise cricket is not played on a calculator...
Not too many MOTM! It's like 2/3 in his entire ODI career
Yeah if we measure it by MOTM Afridi is the best cricketer produced by Pakistan.
not best but one of the biggest match winner produced by Pakistan.
what about Man of the series awards?
Ajmals performances in county cricket are to be expected, even if he is not putting 100% effort in or innings are rained off here and there he should still be taking a bundle of wickets in FC cricket
People remember match-winners for eternity which is why Inzamam is rated the highest from recent Pakistan batsman! He would be remembered for his 2 WC innings in 1992! You are diverging the focus to Afridi despite the thread focusing on Ajmal!
I'm not diverting the focus, simply pointing out the hypocrisy.
Wrong again! You are assuming hypocrisy as there are Stats backing my point up that he has 3 MOTM in 168 matches across all formats posted by XYZ so your ignorance is just something else! That's 1.79%[I'll help you out in the arithmetic] now you tell me genius is that good enough? Does that qualify him as a match-winner? If you still answer Yes, then there are serious problems with you. But I would not expect anything more than an Umar Akmal fan
So he isn't a match winner. Afridi has a high MOTM percentage, is he a match winner?
Game, set and match.
Malik scored 50 and took 1/33 off 3 overs in yesterdays T20 loss vs Worc.
Ajmal: 5/106 vs Glamorgan!!
He follows it up with 7/34 in the 2nd inn to give Worcs a win over the Glamorgan side.
He is also the leading wicket-taker of the tourney.
Ajamal is on fire really , I Hope he transform these performances to the international level otherwise these performances are useless .. In my openion ajmal is't anymore a threat to international cricketers and he's passed his best so he should retire and concentrate on county cricket for the rest of his cricketing carrer
Numbers hardly ever lie! Afridi is a bigger match-winner than Ajmal! You can't argue with stats unless you're an idiot which you are acting as! Ajmal is more consistent with figures like1-40 but those don't win games sadly!
But by your logic, Afridi's one of the biggest match winners ever
You can't argue with stats. Okay. Ajmal averages 22 in ODIs. That is also a Stat.
do you have any doubt over it ? yes he is one of the biggest match winner.. ask any opposition player, ask any neutral and even now, he is the only genuine match winner in this team!!
Lol yaar, I'm a huge Afridi fan, he's my fav player. All my shirts have number 10
I'm just calling Mr Albie out on his double mindedness
his point about Ajmal is valid. Ajmal is consistent but not a genuine match winner.. he will help you in winning a match but cannot win a match by his own.. similarly Afridi is inconsistent but a match winner.. his average will be mediocre but can win you a match by his own!
I agree but the way he talks about Albie ignores the fact that he's probably been our most valuable player among a fewothers since about 2012
Most FC wickets. 56 in only 8 matches.
Saeed Ajmal is a late bloomer! lol
Hope he can stay fit and keep performing till he's 40!
This was probably the best time to have more Pakistani players in county due to the gap in the FTP as it would've given them much needed experience and exposure.
Would like Pakistani batsmen out their.
There is no double mindedness!! Then going by your logic Hafeez is the best ODI batsman as he constantly scores the most hundreds!
:rofl where did I say that 100s make you the greatest? YOU said MOTMs make a match winner yet you hate on Afridi routinely
I was going by your logic of consistency which means nothing! Ajmal is what you would call the top supporting cast after the main actors as he needs help to win matches! I'm like Geoff Boycott as you can play positive cricket but you need to use your brain, keep calm and not throw it away as much as Afridi does!
And who exactly are these 'main actors' in the Pakistani ODI outfit if Ajmal isn't one of them?
Wahab Riaz ofc :lol
Junaid Khan 4-0-34-2 vs Leics.
Lancs won the game.
With this performance, Junaid is now the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 17 wkts to his name.
