The Pakistan squad for the tour of England is expected to consist of 17 players. The squad usually comprises of 15 players however the selection committee will name two additional players with the permission of the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ehsan Mani.

The reason for sending additional players is to gauge their performance in English conditions.

Head Coach Mickey Arthur took the advice of Bowling Coach Azhar Mahmood and Batting Coach Grant Flower in order to formulate a list of probable names for the series against England.

Arthur will now meet Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq to finalise the plans for the World Cup. This plan involves the fitness test and camp scheduling as well.

Changes can be made to the finalised squad before May 21, after which a player can only be substituted in the event of an injury. Substitution in this case requires the approval of the International Cricket Council (ICC) technical committee.

The Pakistan team is scheduled to play two World Cup practice matches on the May 24 and 27, respectively.

The probable squad for the World Cup includes Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, Fakhar Zaman, Imamul Haq, Haris Sohail, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shoaib Malik, Faheem Ashraf, Usman Shinwari, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez and Shaheen Afridi.

Young fast-bowler Mohammad Hasnain along with batsmen Asif Ali and Abid Ali are also under consideration for the squad.

They should take a 20 member squad to England and try to get as many of them a game as possible then cut it down to 15 before the World Cup and send the extras back.
