    Extreme Makeover!!!!

Whilst an extreme makeover is not something that warrants Pakistan right now. We have done well but there have been some serious passengers in the ONE DAY squad:

    Younus Khan
    Razaq
    Misbah on technicality of age

    Changes:

Wahab can play the allrounder role
Younus for Malik ( is in serious domestic form and became a victim to Younus restoration)
Misbah out another new batsman is developed
    One more young batsman

Il try and be a gentleman and not say much to Younus Khan. I am sure he tried his best and over sold on his promise, just couldn't translate it.

The end of the road | Pakistan World Cup 2011 Review Thread

So that is it,a defeat to India has sealed our fate in this World Cup.India go on to play Sri Lanka in the final.

However,we exceeded expectations by topping Group A and a comprehensive thrashing of the West Indies in the Quarter Finals.Tensions have ran high, but after the events of August 2010,a dark hour in Pakistan cricket where even our existence came into question,we have recovered well and have progressed to the semi-finals.A World Cup which we chould have been hosting.

We did not have the ideal build-up,March 2009,August 2010,the oath taking, the captaincy sagas and STILL we topped our group and went on to the semi-finals.

What have been the highlights of this World Cup for you and what can Pakistan take forward from this tournament to the future ?

What could the potential ramifications be and who will be the replacements for what will be the inevitable post-World Cup cull that we tend to see.

Shoaib Akhtar has already announced his retirement.

Younis and Misbah may retire from limited overs cricket, with the latter maybe from all forms.

Does Shahid Afridi retain the captaincy ? Or do we look long-term at someone else ? Maybe groom Azhar Ali ?

Kamran Akmal was also come under a lot of criticism,so a long-term replacement wicketkeeper from domestic cricket can be looked at such as Gulraiz Sadaf.

And are there any selection regrets for you ? Should Fawad Alam have been accommodated into the 15 man squad ?

    :))) Malik...............
    Add Afrdi there to.

We can't make a stupid makeover after every four years.

Well it's quite obvious, its gonna be the end of the road for players like Younis, Misbah, Akhtar, Razzaq, Kamran Akmal and maybe even Afridi....Great world cup for us anyways after all that we have been through. I also think we shouldn't look back to the past by bringing in players like malik etc....so new players....new tactics...new Pakistan....it was always gonna come to this even if we had won the WC.

Need to get rid of guys like Razzaq bigtime as he's been living on past glories in the team for sometime.

Youngsters like Hammad Azam, Junaid Khan, Asad Shafiq, Umar Akmal need to be given confidence and guided properly to perform for Pakistan on the big stage.

In terms for Misbah and Younis, ideally would like both to hang their own boots themselves for ODI's and put all their focus of playing a year or so of test cricket for Pakistan. The only problem being though is that we may need one of the 2 to be around as our side has the tendency to fall over very quickly in what ever situation so might be good to have one of the experienced guys on in the side but definitely not both of them!

Kamran Akmal would be another one who should come under the scanner for his mediocre performance with the gloves which is his main job being in the side to keep wickets and really of his batting didn't do much good with that too having 1 good performance against the Windies in the QF but then the usual 15-20 here and there but am not going for his batting here its the KEEPING that is concerning!

Pakistan is the only country who can change a captain who takes them to the semi final of world cup.

The Pakistan Cricket Board are experienced at it lol, they've ruined alot of careers like this. They don't respect their own players who have done alot for their country for a number of years.

Names like Razzaq, Younis, Misbah, Akhtar, Rehman, Kamran and perhaps Hafeez need to be put to one side now.

They've had their time and it's time to move them on. Afridi is another one we should perhaps send packing. He bats like an irresponsible teenager and his bowling average against the top teams is a joke.

Azhar Ali, Wahab Riaz, Saeed Ajmal, Fawad Alam, Umar Gul, Asad Shafiq, Ahmad Shahzad and others need to become the core of the Pakistan team going forward.

It's time to get Azhar into the ODI side, imo. He has one of the best List A record in Pakistani domestic cricket so he really should be getting a chance sooner rather than later. He'd also be good competition for Hafeez - who should get slapped after that shot he played yesterday - at the top of the order.
Razzaq needs competition, so this is the time to get someone like Hammad Azam in - he really does have the potential and talent to replace Razzaq in the future, and this is the best time to groom him.
Kamran, well he MUST go now. Surely we can't have him costing us anymore games? Sarfraz Ahmed, Adnan Akmal and Gulraiz Sadaf have been waiting in the wings for a long time and now is the time we gave either of them a fair crack at International cricket.
Younis and Misbah should retire from ODIs now. They had a chance to prove their worth at the world cup and, despite a couple of good performances, they failed.

I really hope PCB doesn't revert to the likes of Farhat, Hameed etc because we really have some promising youngsters coming through and now is the time to build for the future, not to regress back to the past.

Guys I think this is the time when the fun really starts, after some rather painful decisions on finishing some players careers.
I think we have a series of ODI's against Windies coming up and then another ODI series against Ireland, Zimabawe, Bangladesh and Srilanka towards the end of the year. Should be at least 15-20 ODI's that Pakistan still has to play by the end of 2011...
So I think if we get a new bunch of 3-4 promising players in the side then we should have a decent team towards the end of this year
I think from now on our core for ODI cricket should be Asad, U.Akmal, Azhar/Fawad, Afridi (spinner), Wahab, Gul, Junaid, Ajmal... The other 3 spots can be taken up by any new up coming cricketer

Remember guys Afridi did not lose us the cup!... His bowling one of the reasons why we got as far as we did, and it could have took us even further had the 3-4 catches not been dropped off his bowling

Core of the future team must be made by those players who will play all three format of the International Cricket.

Start with a good Batting Coach who will stop the Pakistani batsmen from planting the front-foot down the wicket even before the ball is bowled. If that can be achieved then surely players like Hafees,Shehzed,Umer Akmal & others will find balance that is lacking in their stroke play.

Also bring in in middle order left-hand batsmen who is attacking with a GOOD TECHNIQUE to fall back.

Most importantly allow players like Abdul Razzaq to leave international cricket with grace & respect.

These are the players I would let go.
Misbah and Younus - should be confined to Test cricket like Dravid and Laxman
Razzaq - retirement from international cricket.
    Akhtar - already resigned.
Kamran - enough is enough. He should be dumped from all forms of cricket.

Everyone else including Afridi, Ajmal, Rehman, Hafeez, Shehzad, Asad, Umar Akmal, Gul, Junaid, Wahab should hold their places.

    Squad of 15 for ODI's
Hafeez (can play as an allrounder in the middle order)
    Shehzad (needs some more chances)
    Asad
    Umar akmal
    Fawad Alam
    Afridi (captain)
    Gul
    Wahab
    Ajmal
    Rehman
    Junaid
    Azhar Ali
    Sarfaraz Ahmed
    Hammad Azam
Shoaib Malik (if found clean of match fixing)

Rumour has it that Farhat is being considered for the West Indies tour, although it’s speculation at the moment. Pakistan won’t be moving forward too soon if the speculation is proved to be correct.

I'd be fairly happy with that, Taufeeq Umar and Hameed also deserve a few more games. They havent really done much wrong in recent games compared to others but they got dropped. They also have some experience.

Was also hoping to see Rana in the side but that might be too late now. Tanvir Ahmed is also one im not too sure about, he has talent but he needs to work on his fitness and his pace. I'd also want Mohammad Yousuf back in the side at least for another year or so while the other youngsters learn from him, especially since the PCB hasnt figured out its our batting that tends to fail and our team needs a batting coach more than anything else.

Also on the fence about Malik. His age and experience helps but he comes with alot of baggage which the team can do without.
