Am i the only pakistani that watches combat sports such as K1, UFC, pride etc? Im surprised no one has started a thread on this already.

So does anybody think that rampage (the new Mr T) stands a chance in hell of beating jon jones????? Personally i think its going to be a messy one sided beating with page on the receiving end.

lol Okami really couldnt handle those awkward angles. Cant say that was the best fight on the card. Pearson put on a good fight earlier.

I used to watch wrestling back in the day but I've been put off by UFC mainly because one of my friends described it as men holding each other in a sleeper hold for 30 minutes every match.

    Is it really like that?

Thats just them being ignorant of the sport mate:) If you look at anderson silvas KO of forrest griffin its very Ali like. The man went into matrix mode and then just used the patented Ali Anchor punch.

But thats just an isolated fight...look at machidas karate kid style crane kick on randy couture, or the way frank mir breaks someones limbs etc etc etc.

    Anthony petis's ninja kick.

yeah that stuff looks good but is it true that the majority of the match is spent with the combatants putting holds on each other.

Depends on the fighter really. You have grapplers and then you have the ones who have the TKO in their armoury. I wouldnt say its all holding at all. Im not a big fan of the UFC, only because i dont get the time to watch it. But that Anderson Silva guy is immense! Is he still unbeaten Waj? Is there another one call the spyder now aswell?

CT he is still undefeated in the UFC but he has lost once to ryo chonan with the most beautigull heel hook you will ever see. But. that was a long time ago. His last fight. was one hell of a fight....he was losing badly to chael sonnen but somehow made him tap with a triangle choke towards the end of the lasst round. If anderson silva has alis flair in the ring then his nemisis without doubt has the gift of the tongue. Chael sonnen is a one man verbal wrecking crew....just check out the stuff he says.

@ mercenary people who criticose the grappling aspect of mma are the sa.e crowd or type of crowd that criticise the klitchkos for jabbing their way to victory or wwho hate floyd mayweathers defensive style. I personally love watching floyd shoulder roll his way to victory.
I actually enjoy the grappling aspwct of mma and watching a bjj master like jacare submit someone is an absolute treat. But i suppose to each their own.

Boxing doesnt get as crazy as mma....yes sometimes you get a 'lay and pray' fighter but you could just as easily see something completely crazy. As shown below.
