Should waist high no-balls also result in free hits?

No. The game is already very much batsmen friendly.

Its makes no sense to have front foot no-balls a free hit but beamers not?

    How does that work?

beamers could injure the batsman so yes it should be given a free hit else a bowler could just try to knock out a batsman who is on form and get away with it

The whole idea of cricket is to have a contest between bat and ball.

If you are going to give free hits, where a batsman can close his eyes and swing knowing that he can't be out, you might as well just make a new format of cricket like those double-wicket competitions where batsman go out and bat 10 overs, score as many runs as they can, regardless of if they get out or not.

Shahid Afridi would be ideal for this form of cricket , as fans would pay a lot of money if they are guaranteed to watch Afridi to bat for 10 overs all by himself.

But then, that isn't really cricket is it - its a slog festival.

No I dont agree, in fact I dont think we should have any free hits for anything, there's more than enough assitance for batsmen in the modern game.

Instead we should have more rules favouring the bowlers to try and restore the balance between bat and ball

I will agree when there is free hit situation and Pakistani batsmen are the ones that are on the receiving end of the bowl! I get super excited lol.. specially in a close game..the free hit of the no ball has made the game a little more interesting I believe!

Yes, its batsmen friendly and to counter this they need to change the bouncer rule!

But for the waist high no ball, no I don't think there should be a free hit! The no ball without freehit is fine
