Pakistan vs England 1st test team

So now that the Pakistan vs Australia test series is over now its time for Pakistan vs England Test series which starts on thursday the 29 july. So now whats gona be different in this series is that the way australia bowls like the ball late swings and edges and goes to keeper i dont think england can bowl somthing like that. So i think Paks batting will be better then

so this is the team i would chosse for paks upcoming game against england:

Umar Akmal
Ahzar Ali
Yasir hameed
Younis khan/ Shoaib malik (if he gets selected then i would like him to play if yousuf get selected then i would say malik instead of him.)

Mohd Ammer

Mohd Asif
Umar Gul/ Tanvir Ahmad

I though Yousuf was gonna be on in for the series against England

yousuf has barly played any games he should play some first claas games before he enter teh international

I'll continue with Umar Amin, we often cry about not giving youngsters a chance, now that we have given him a chance give him a good decent run before writing him off.

If Mohammed Yousuf spends half an hour in middle than He will be better than any batsman who can play for Pakistan right-now.

Pakistan will never score 400 & above unless we have both Younis & Yousuf playing & guiding the youngsters to make big hundreds.

If we got both Yosuf and Younis then they should replace malik and umer akmal from todays side. We should not left out the two new guys ( azhar and amin)

But we can't leave the two new guys who have shown the signs of having a good temperament for test cricket and that too in their debut and against australia.

and since when has a "useless" Malik become the benchmark of comparison for a batting "great" like Yousuf? lmao


On one hand, people can't stand the mentioning of Malik with Yousuf and on the other hand they never stop comparing the two.

by the way, I hope Yousuf stays retired for the sake of Pakistan cricket. The guy's nothing but a high school dramaqueen.

-i think they will not sit out umar amin and take in yasir hameed. i think they have "too much (more than the need for it)" confidence in him.

I dont mind the same team as vs. australlia except for 2 changes:

1. Malik (needs to be replaced by fawad alam/younis/or yousuf)

2. Danish kaneria (needs to be replaced by ajmal or any other spinner. even if introduce another pacer thats fine... and azhar ali and fawad alam can bowl spin- though need to work on it). i think england will be handled well by good pace attack

best field Pak can possibly put on park

Completely agree that playing Yousuf & Younis will not give any assurance of reaching a score of 400 & above but it us a hope based on Averages.

Pakistan Cricket need both of them if they want to become a great team by the time they play Aus again in few yrs time.

If one of Yousuf and Younis return, I'd drop Malik for one of them and put them at the number 4 position.
Other than that, maybe Ajmal instead of Kaneria.

both of them deserrve to be in the team, both are realy great players. Ijazz should think wisely now that pak almost lost the todays game casue of a poor bating line up, but still won it Ijazz should now think over it that if they have both of them team pak wont have to worry of chasing down any kind of target, becuase both batsman are capable of making 40 Atleast.

Yes, you are right there is absolutely no comparison at all between the two from batting ability stand point! I was just replying to OP who did compare them in post #1. Here it is one more time;

Since Malik has batted at #6 for the most of his career, lets compare him all the #6 batsmen who have played for Pakistan and scored 350 or more test runs - sorted by average;

umer akmal is crap for test matches..... i think younis would be the best one to replace him.... akmal doesn't seem like interested in playing test cricket.... he was kinda bored in the middle...lets not waste him in test matches...let him fight for his place n juz not gift him aa place on basis of t20.....

even fawad alam wud do for shoaib malik n khurram manzoor for umer amin.... i mean both of them played very nicely in there last outing...

fawad alam is overrated, he has a very bad technique and should only play 50 overs.

I would persist with Umar amin, looks composed but is getting out in stupid ways, either the odd fishing or leaving up his bat.

I also want to see Hameed in the line up, if Malik flops vs England, bring him in

Simon Katich has similar technique as Fawwad Alam...and both always score runs. Nothing can be said about technique if runs are coming.
Fawwad Alam should be in the team. He is way better than Umar Amin. There is no logiccomparing him to Umar Amin.
Umar Amin is raw and it will take him time to settle.
I don't know what were the selectors thinking when they drop Fawwad Alam even after good performance in AUS earlier this year.

Imran Farhat is someone who is overrated and over-served, not Fawwad Alam.

At the point of delivery Katich is still, Fawad Alam is almost tipping over to his offstump, and his shuffle is much bigger, comparing him to Katich who is a veteran at 35 is the wrong way.

umar amin has gt runs off delightfull cover drives, his head is still,gets to th pitch of the ball

I'm sorry but it's the end of the road for guys like Malik, Younis, Yusuf, Rana Naved. That era has finished. We have a new breed of players and a wonderful coach who we should most definitely persist with. Champion test team is:

agree with this. amin can throw down the odd overs needed to give the full timers a rest. i'd even introduce the u-19 kid hammad into the 6th spot and take hameed away. but otherwise i'd persist with the above squad atleast for the rest of this tour.

Good team but I would like to have one of Yousuf/Younis in the team maybe in place of Hameed (as much as i want him to play aswell)

I would also bring in Ajmal or some other guy as I think that Kaneria doesnt have much left in him anymore and should retire and from internationals and stick to county cricket.

I think Kaneria will be an assest against england since he more or less have played against all of their batsmen in county cricket and he knows the conditions pretty well. So I would have him on the team for now. As for younis/yusuf, enough is enough to be quite frank. Its hard to discard great players like them but it must be done for the team's sake. For the greater good. Give others who deserve a chance. I'm pretty sure we can groom our youngsters to be the best!

If Kaneria knows the conditions of England pretty well, and knows how to get out in England, then why did he struggle to even take one wicket against the Aussies?

He was absolutely useless in these 2 test match series, I mean he couldn't even get the tailenders out!

It's funny to see how everyone wants younis and yousuf back in the test side now, I would like to remind you guys these are same people who waqar, afridi were begging to come back before the series started and younis wants everyone to lick his balls. So what if are big players may be their time has passed. It's these younge players who are playing as a unit and won us the game after such a long time. I think we should play them atleast for this series.
