I have this major issues with Pakistanis both in Pakistan and abroad who seem to think China is a true friend to Pakistan. I live in NYC and often been accused of being pro US however I am pro Pakistan as well perhaps not much as I use to be however this doesn't mean I view China the same way in my household or elsewhere.

I am often told Pakistan shouldn't work with the US or ask for aid. Instead we should work with China our one true friend. People go far as saying let's go to war with the US because China is there to back us up.

What has China ever done for Pakistan which it hasn't done for another country? Has China ever on global scale backed up Pakistan in anything? I live in NYC and I have lived blocks away from China town. Most people don't even know where Pakistan is...if they do they do not know our countries are supposed friends.

My question is why this effort is made by Pakistanis trying to disparately create this imaginary friend. For as I am concerned China is the largest exporter in the world. It needs to have good ties with others in order to basically sell its goods.

China has invested billions up billions into the US and Europe. They actually hold the most amount of $'s in the world. Why on earth would they back up Pakistan against anyone let alone the US?

Seriously what has China got to lose by letting go of Pakistan other then some concern over who is on the other side of the border. Am I missing something here or have we really blown our working relationship with China into something more?

In foreign affairs, there is no such thing as permanent allies. China needs Pakistan to act as a buffer against India. Pakistan should be independent in its decision making and not follow what Beijing is doing.
