    I've really been getting into old Pakistani songs for the last year or so. I wish good qulity copies of the songs were available more readily. There's some amazing songs from that era. Post your favourites below.

    Ghulam Ali - Ghulam has a voice full of emotion and it's surprising that he's not more highly regarded. I'd put him up there with the likes of Mehdi Hassan and Mohammad Rafi. Below are two of my favourite songs by him...

    Aaj Tu Ghair Sahi is a fantastic song with great lyrics...




    ...but I was introduced to the song via the Indian copy below. The song is copied word for word and virtually scene for scene (i much prefer the original now but the copy isnt bad either)...

    wonderful songs. I especially love "ae abr-e-karam aaj itna baras". what beautiful lyrics.

    but my all-time favorite song is the following. it's tough to pick one fav song for anyone. and I would have said the same until I heard this song. but having heard it I can say that this is my one favorite song ahead of all others. nothing quite like it.

    I love this one so much. I heard ahmed Jehanzeb sing this one on a tribute show for Sohail Rana. he did a pretty good job. so beautiful.

    the most amazing thing about these songs is that they're so beautiful to listen to but the lyrics are not trivial. they're not just rhyming couplets. they tell a story, convey a message. to tell a story within the confines of the tune/melody - beautiful achievement.

    lol. I remember the first time I heard this one was as a parody on Studio Dhai by Latif Kapadia marhoom (God bless him). beautiful song.

    Janu sun zara from Jeeva became very popular in mid ninetees, when the film industry was still stable..



    But Dil hogaya hai tera deewana of javed sheikh and neeli movie is the best pakistani movie song of 90's by a long shot, still a great song to me.
