Undoubtedly this is one of Pakistan's best test match wins. They are definitely resurgent and deserve to be in the top 3 test rankings. They have exceeded all expectations, and have done considerably better than previous Pakistani teams that had higher expectations. We should all savor this victory, and look towards a bright future. The Rehman delivery to Broad was beautiful, and that was probably my favorite delivery of the match. Ajmal as always delivered when it counted. Shafiq and Ali performed admirably, and combined to make the best partnership of the match. Without a doubt, their partnership showed intelligence and patience, something that has been lacking for the last few years. They have much promise, and I hope that they stand up in the future as Pakistani batsmen.
However, through all this, we should not forget that the Pakistani team is not perfect, and there are kinks in the armor that we must address. I will list them here:
    Struggle Against the Moving Bowl
This pitch had little to offer for the seamers, but there was a little something in it. In particular, I thought the Pakistani batsmen were bunnys when it came to the new ball. As soon as the new ball was ordered, i could visibly see our batsmen shaken, and fall into defensive mode. Even though not many wickets fell to seam, there were definitely oppurtunities that could have been taken. And when we go to other countries, where there is a green pitch, we will struggle.
    Age
Although at early 30, it may be too soon to start the alarm bells, but we should get some new blood in. The only youngsters we had were Shafiq, Ali, and Junaid. We shouldn't take drastic steps and phase out seniors, but we should pay attention to it in the future and watch carefully.....
    Fast Bowling
Our fast bowling reserves look weak. Spin is our strongest suit right now, but it will be a blunted weapon on pitches in England, SA, and Australia. Spin is only king in the subcontinent and the UAE. I think Junaid and Wahab should be given more chances. They need to be taught and mentored correctly. They have potential. I love Gul but he is extremely un predictable. We need someone like Amir, a reliable sort of character.
    Batting in General
Some quality batting came from the youngsters, Asad and Ali. However, our players still don't know how to rotate the strike, or carry on to make big hundreds and big scores that count. Rotating the strike is a neccesary trait to make those big scores. The run rate is also a worry. How long can we continue to win going at less than 2.5 and over? The fact of the matter is that our excellent spin bowling has been making up for some pretty average batting. Batting lacks consistency. This imbalance is really a problem for me. I think we can claim that our bowling side is ONE of the best in the world, and it is making up for some very ordinary batting. in foreign conditions, this will be a massive problem.
    Fielding
    No explanation required....

I've outlined these problems because they will cause us problems in away conditions. Other than that, I think we'd do very well in subcontinent and UAE. But in the meantime, PAKISTAN ZINDABAD

    Add to that:

    Younis Khan's inconsistency..

Last year he scored 2 50's against Newzealand, a 50 against Zimbabwe, a 50 and a 100 against SriLanka and a double century against Bangladesh.

However in this series, he has had scores of 37, 24 and 1. Being the senior batsman, he has to respond against bigger teams and take bigger responsiblity.
It felt awesome watching Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq fight it out, but the senior men should take more responsibility.

Very true ^^. Hopefully he'll bring his A game in the next match. A batsmen of his class can only be out of form for so long. The thing is though, on English conditions, I think Younis Khan would perform the best out of all our current crop because of experience and talent. Don't know for certain though

The problem with the batting is mostly against the moving ball. Ali and Shafiq need to get exposure to foreign conditions, and the best way to do that is county cricket. In the subcontinent, I think they can do very well, even under pressure. Players like Younis, Yousef, and Inzamam all played county cricket in England. im sorry to say, but England has the best domestic cricket structure, and since its foreign, the new batsmen could become very balanced if they played there.
