    Great idea.

    But you've listed only 9 players in that poor Quetta Khans squad. :p

    But who decides who's an all rounder or a specialist batsman/bowler. Which category does Fawad, Malik, Sohail Tanvir, Arafat etc. follow?

    I think we need to either group them in categories or even price them accordingly.

    Or just let people select their teams without an limitations.

    Can I just post my XI already?

    Wasim i've already decided who an all rounder is and who isn't, click on the list right at the top and it will take you to my other thread team guide to 20/20 rbs cup, in the first post you will see teams and the main players in 3 catagories of batsman, bowlers and all rounders.

    all 12 players you select cant be from the same team, you can only select 2 players from each of the 13 teams but no more than 12 players all together. so quetta may have 9 players but only 2 players can be selected from them.

    Coolness!

    So can I post my team?

    And group A teams will get to play more matches in the group stages, than the other groups. So wont their players accumulate more score in this fantasy league?

    And what about a wicketkeeper? If we have top pick one, can you also mention in your other thread who each team's wicketkeeper is?

    Introduction to Cricket Fantasy League – RBS 2010 20/20 Cup

    I know this all may get abit boring to read, but do read it to understand rules of scoring and team selections. You can skip the introduction and go straight to rules.

    Please note that this is my first go on doing this and there are no prizes for the winner so don’t ask for a prize at the end of it, so its all just for fun, I might update the rules if there’s a loophole or flaw but otherwise all rules will be kept the same. If anyone is confused by rules, team selection or/and scoring system then please post your enquiries in here. All scoring might not be done on the same day and if anyone spots they scoring doesn’t add up then please let me know.

    I’ve tried keeping it simple while making it competitive. I’m sure all of you will be honest and not get too angry if anything goes wrong.

    That was fast ghulam.

    I see a loophole in the scoring system. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    A batsman scores 8 runs off 10 balls. Thats 0 points for runs and -10 for 80% strike rate.

    -10

    Another batsman scores 4 runs off 2 balls. Thats 0 points for runs BUT 125 points for 200% strike rate. :S

    Rules

    Here are some general rules about scoring, look at the team selections heading for rules of team selection.

    ▬►To be AWARDED points for conceding runs, a player must bowl a minimum of 2 overs. However a player will still be deducted points accordingly for conceding runs with no number of minimum overs.

    ▬►To be awarded points for strike rate a player must stay at the crease for at least 4 balls and make at least 10 runs. However it does not apply when deducting points for players for a strike rate lower than 100.

    ▬►Batsmen that bowl will be awarded points as all rounders.

    ▬►All Rounders will be awarded points for batting scores as batsman and not bowlers.

    ▬►If the top wicket taker or run scorer is tied, the points will be split equally between them.

    ▬►As there are 4 teams in Group A, which means players in teams that are in group A will have 1 more match. This will cause a disadvantage to other players. So when this was bought to my attention by Wasim, I decided that none of Quetta’s players or fixtures will eligible for this fantasy league. In Other words we will treat group A as it has only 3 teams in.

    ▬►Team names are automatically assigned with using your username, no reqiests personal or private nicknames of teams will be granted.

    ▬►No team changes are allowed once the tournament starts unless there is an injury to one of your team players. In that case make a NEW post about the injury and replacement player. If all is satisfactory then your request will be granted on discretion.

    ▬►Team must be entered before the first match of the tournament on 28th of February

    If anyone else notices anything or has any suggestions then please let me know.

    Not every team in the other thread has a wicketkeeper, I mentioned a few but other teams have more than 1 or 2 wicketkeepers of the same standard so not sure whose going to wicketkeep for them. choosing a wicket keeper isn;t compulsory in the team, even though it will get you points on fielding, there are no penalties for missing run outs and dropping catches since im carrying on the tradition of pcb (not really it would get a bit unfair and difficult to score as i wont be watching every match).

    Hope you enter your team tmrw.

    Husker Fan Danish Kaneria plays for the Karachi Zebras and is they captain i believe. you seem to have got mixed up and put Lions there.

    Still needs fixing.

    A batsman scores 24 runs off 12 balls. Thats 10 points for runs and a WHOPPING 125 for the strike rate of 200%. Thats 115 points.

    Another batsman consolidates after a collapse and scores 49 runs off 50 balls. He gets 50 points for runs and -10 for a strike rate of less that 100%. Thats just 40 points compared to the other batsman's 115 points.

    You're awarding WAY too many points for strike rate. I suggest you go to a popular fantasy league website and just COPY AND PASTE their scoring system - OR I can do it for you - just like other forums do. No need to re-invent the wheel, specially if the wheel is crappy. :p

    I will post my team once we decide if we're going to fix the scoring system or not. Because as of now I'd select sloggers, not Malik or Fawwad, since SO much emphasis is on the strike rate. Umer Gul can get more points for his batting than some specialist batsmen with this scoring system.

    Wasim, I dont think theres nothing wrong with that, if a slogger can come out and entertain and can last 2 overs in 20/20 then the points reflect that if a batman who consolidates making 49 runs of 50 then hes made the runs but in my view hes wasted to many balls, your fogetting the batsman will also be rewarded for boundaries and the runs they score, each run is a point, where each 6 for batsman is 10 points and each 4 is 5 points,

    There wont be that much difference in points once you add them all up with a slogger who scores

    Shahid Afridi = 24 of 12 balls(10 points for 24, 125 points for strike rate, 6x2=20.3x4=15) POINTS 170
    Shoaib Malik 50 of 49 balls,(80 points for 50, 13 points for runs, 4x4=25,2x6=20 and -10 points for S/R) POINTS 128

    I'm not going to change the scoring system and neither i'm i going to copy of other sites and forums.

    Was my last post deleted?

    I mentioned in my last post that according to the point system in the OP, Sami with figures of 4-0-40-1 would accumulate 5 points while Gul with figures of 4-0-25-3 (with 2 wides and a no ball) will end up with -5 points. Thats absurd! You get a wicket = 20 points, you bowl a wide then = -20, next you bowl a maiden over (which is like gold in t20) = 20 points, you bowl one more wide = -20 ! You're overall figures could be 4-3-6-3 and you could still end up with zero points if those 6 runs are from wides!

    I also posted another scoring system in my last post where Gul, in the above scenario, would end up with 30 points, while Sami would score zero points. Strangely, that post is not here. :s

    You're right, I missed that. But you've mistakenly written it the other way around: 10 points for a boundary and 5 points for a sixer, by the way.

    Its better now, specially for bowlers, but still need improvement. :)

    Not to bug you, but do you remember 1st T20 world cup final? where Misbah emerged as a hero? Sohail Tanvir 'helped' him out but Misbah was the reason we almost took the cup. Well, per these (new) scoring rules, Sohail Tanvir gets 175 points while Misbah gets 120 points. The difference would've been even bigger if Misbah hadn't hit four 6s.

    In that Gul/Sami scenario, Where Gul's figures = 4-0-25-3 (2 wides, 1 no ball) and Sami = 4-0-40-1, Gul would now have 40 points according to your new scoring system and Sami would have 20. Atleast Gul has more points than Sami now, but I still think Gul did'nt bowl just twice as good to Sami (40 points to 20), Gul bowled atleast thrice as good!

    I still encourage you to use the following scoring system, that comes from a professional fantasy league website. In the Gul/Sami scenario, Gul gets 30 points and Sami gets 0 points (thrice as good bowling, thrice times the points).

    In Misbah/Tanvir scenario, Misbah gets 8 points in the following scoring system, while Tanvir gets 2 for his batting. Misbah's innings was four times better than Tanvir, you'd agree, rather than awarding more points to Tanvir per OP system!

    This is my last post on scoring systems. :) Perhaps Merc and others can suggest which one makes more sense.

    Here's my team, in any case:

    U.Akmal (lions)
    K.Akmal (lions)
    Misbah-ul-Haq (wolves)
    Fawad Alam (dolphins)

    Shoaib Malik (Stallions)
    Shahid Afridi (dolphins)
    Abdul Razzaq (stallions)
    Yasir Arafat (Rams)

    Mohammad Aamer (Rams)
    Saeed Ajmal (Wolves)

    misbah got 43 from 38 balls, hit 4 6's=60 S.r 113-10, 19 runs = 57runs, made 43 runs so 50 = 177
    tanvir got 12 of 4 balls, hit 2 6's strike rate above 200, 0 for runs, 125 S/R, 30 for 6's = 125

    Your not understanding the scoring system, lets break it down using the case you gave of Misbah and Tanvir

    Misbah made 43 runs = 50 Points
    Strike Rate of 113 = 10 Points
    4x6's = 60 Points
    19x1's = 57 Points

    Total Points = 177

    Tanvir made 12 Runs = 0 Points
    Strike Rate of 300 = 125 Points
    2x6's = 30 Points

    Total Points = 155

    and Gul and Sami

    Gul 4-0-25-3
    3 wickets = 35
    25 runs conceded = 20
    3 illegal balls = -15

    Total= 40 Points

    Sami 4-0-40-1
    1 wicket = 10 points
    40 runs conceded 10 points

    Total = 20 Point

    I'll add your team now, hope that explains the scoring system well enough.

    Question: why is quetta being blacked out. its unfair to anyone whose team/players play against them. sure the team might win, its not neccessary that the player will perform that damn well against them. Plz leave it on even grounds.

    From the OP:
    Thanks to Wasim for pointing out that Group A will play more matches than the other teams, so to combat this i'm going to rule Quetta out as I think they the weakest in the group, none of the matches in Group A involving Quetta will be scored. PLEASE DO NOT PICK ANY PLAYERS FROM Quetta
