    From Cricinfo...

Oh what a coincidence! As soon as we make noises that we are about to organise our own Premier League at this time with the possibility of foreign cricketers and others coming to Pakistan, the BCCI suddenly and conveniently change track and invite us to the Champions League to be held at the same time!

What's going on? Do they not want the PPL to happen? Have they thought this through and decided that having us in the CL is a better option for them than there being a PPL?

    BCCI at it once again!

As soon as they know that Pakistan is thinking of starting its own league, they play this trick and invite Stallions for the CLT20.

What has BCCI gotto do with PPL? Bangladesh have their own already, they didnt invite them.

BCCI know's nobody follow's champion league except for a few indians. They dont want to loose money from the organizers who must be getting impatient now investing in a tournament nobody cares about. So BCCI pull out their card and invite a Pakistani team which every sane pundit had asked for in last few years. It keeps the tourny alive and it makes some neutral pundits happy.

These Indians, very smart diplomats i say. Thats how they make their money.

After being messed around so much are the PCB going to allow a team to participate or will they stand firm and tell them to do one? After the way they have treated us in recent times do we really want to be involved?

Pcb should use some brain this time.. Iam sure this is just a ploy to disturb PCB plans for PPL and they wont include stallions in the champions league either.

Possibly some last minute procedural glitch which they will blame on the PCB and this will prevent any team from Pakistan taking part.

I think we should refuse any invitation.

Can't figure out why should the PPL be affected because of this?

Yeah but the fixtures aren't confirmed and CL is hardly a 2-3 week tourney, so I'd assume the PPL could go a little flexible on this. On the other hand, the more our teams play outside, the better it is for the PPL in the longer run.

To say "No" right-now will make it our fault & that can be good for us in the current time.

Let say "yes" & try to win the CL20 if there is any betrayal from BCCI or CL20 organizer we can say that it was their fault.

We need any help that we get to restart international circket in Pakistan & top offend any Major Test playing country in not in our own interest.

It's quite possible that this is a way to disrupt the plans for a PPL but I honestly doubt the BCCI are going to be massively worried about a PPL. Pakistan is still too unsafe and PPL contracts wont tempt any big names away from the IPL especially given the security situation in Pakistan.

I think the reason for this decision is because there is pressure from English and Australian teams who want to play their Pakistani nationals in the Champions League but are currently not allowed to do so. The BCCI will have to relent on this and as a result it makes no sense to allow Pakistani players to play for English and Australian teams but then not include a Pakistani team.

If this does go ahead then expect Pakistani players to return to the IPL next year as well.

has nothing to do with our fictional PPL, that project has never even moved beyond the Power Point presentation stage.

Looking from Pakistan's pespective, I think it is a good thing for us.

    Why?

Because when PPL is launched then the hungry to come at first spot would significantly increase, this time finalist would be making to CLT20 and won't get Rs. 20 Lakhs or so cheque, rather it will be in millions! Considering how much our players are paid in domestic tournament, with such invitation it will boost there chances of succeeding financially.

I agree with @AZK Bhai PPL is still where it was four years ago when term was brought up!

    Just my two cents...

@Cover Drive, very valid points, considering the financial scenario as well. I can't see any issues relating to the PPL blueprint whatsoever.

PPL?Which teams, players etc etc etc have been fixed?Any sponsors? It just on the paper.BCCIs leagues are not affected by BBL BPL FriendsT20 which offer a lot of money that PPL may find difficult to match. So BCCI is not worried.Did anyone of you cared to check the PCB media release on this? The CEO of PCB i think said they have been discussing this with BCCI for months.

If PCB wants to refuse, well they can.But then again people shouldnt complain that BCCI is so anti PAkistan.

I know exactly why Rajiv Shokla must have allowed Pak players, and he might allow Pak players in teh IPL aswell in the future....

Though, CHampions League is a failed and not a proper league, i don't care if Pakistani team is playing in this league or not, but a league that consisst of 3 teams from one country and 2 teams another is not an organized league

I doubt it has anything to do with the PPL. Its the dwindling interest in the IPL that is forcing the IPL committee to unleash the X Factor juice into the mix to reinstall attendance. Pakistani players have always had marquee appeal in India and the game organizers are now playing that card, as simple as that.

DOn't watch much soccer, but if thats the way they play, then thats also unorganized......

Equal number of teams should play in these type of leagues....

In Champions League, its about the board with more power gets more of his countries teams to play

WE should pack that team like the Lahore Badshahs, and beat the shit out of all the teams.

Once that is done then come back and start our league of PPL:)

You must be very naive to think that Pakistanis who are two time finalist, three time semi finalist and one time winner of ICC world t2o wont have more appeal than other foreigners involved in this league. Afridi, Ajmal, Umar Gul are specialist T20 players and they are known match winners. To top it Sialkot stallions and Faislabad wolves have been the best t20 teams in the world, faislabad won the the t20 league in england few years back. Its not their fault that they havent been included in this league, which claims itself to be 'champions' league, champions without champions eh.

Extremely surprising and an unwanted self-claim of the subject when one of your own online news resource quotes the below a few days back:

Prefer it for us to stay out of these tamasha T20 leagues but unfortunately the cash incentive makes it impossible to resist from the player's point of view. Don't really care whether we are in these tournaments or out of it.

For me or other old fogey traditionalists the real cricketing season starts on the 1st Test at Lords on an overcast morning in May, England vs West Indies and the 1st Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Now that's REAL cricket, not your bollywood-sponsored, pyjama slog-fest.

ppl saying bcci fears PPL.what are teams in PPL?any international players?fixtures?anything?so bcci is fearing a non existent tournament which has never gone beyond powerpoint presentations.Thats laughable.and lets say they have this PPL and clash it with CLT20 when most of the international players will be with other teams who will play in PPL
