Analysis of Pakistan Captains Since Imran Retirement - Part 1 ( Tests)

Since Imran Retirement in 1992, the only consistent thing about Pakistan cricket has been change of captains. Pakistan had 15 test captains since Imran retirement ( Javed also led the team in few tests but hasnot been included because he had led the team before as well and this analysis is about the newly appointed captains after imran retirement.)
All captains have their share of success and failures, below we will have a look at the captaincy records of all these captains.

how about salim malik?

i have heard some v good stuff about him. he won a test series against Australia as well.

Captain that I have seen.

Imran. Complete command of his team. Big on giving youth a chance out of nowhere.

Javed. Very astute. Lacked leadership though.

Wasim. Tried to copy Imran too early. Was very attacking but there was always a dodgy performance around the corner.

Salim Malik. Got best out of his team. Performed as captain but his last couple of series were shambles.

Ramiz. Yousaf type captain.

Sohail. Very sharp brain(probably the most astute on field Pak captain). He lack respect from teammates and never had long enough run. Good with younger players. Durban 98 will live long in memory.

Rashid. Clever but again lack of support from Akram group cost him in 98.

Anwer. Not captain material. His own performance suffered big time.

Moin. Very defensive captain without Wasim in the side who practically ran the team when he played.

Waqar. Not the sharpest brain as captain. Did well for a season but could not cope with too many egos led by Wasim.

Inzi. I reserve my views to myself on this legend because I would upset too many people.

Shoaib Malik. Might have turned out a decent captain but had Afridi's shadow was hanging on his head like any other captain after Inzi.

@Younis-fan i agree about the sharpness of sohail, he was v clever and proactive but the team never supported him. his odi stats as a captain are much better especially that historic 4-1 win over india in sahara cup.
