Mohsin Hassan Khan announced the following 15 man squad today for asia cup 2010. Included in the lineup are Shoaib Akhtar & Shoaib Malik who passed their fitness test yesterday in front of selection committee and panel of coaches.

Fawad deserves more than imran farhat and malik!

No Fawad Alam! I always knew Waqar Younis is going to kick Fawad Alam out of the team, even when he made his debut test century against Srilanka, Waqar kept on criticizing his technique, but this is not the way!, his ODI average is still above 40, n he performed reasonably well in the series against Australia in Australia along with Umar Akmal, and wat can i say abt his performance in the T20 world cup, u send a middle order batsman (a Nudger) at no.8 and u expect him to perform well over there even Abdul Razzaq failed at that position during the World cup, n ur judging Alam's future by this Stupid strategy of urs! it aint alam's fault its all those dumb strategies and team planning..

Y is Imran Farhat there in the squad? 4 openers (salman, kamran, shahzaib, imran) ..in a squad of 15, that is ridiculous!

Would have liked to have seen Irfan and Fawad,we need another pacer in there as Sri Lanka does usually contain green,seaming tracks,Irfan would have been ideal.

Both Shoaib(s) were selected on PPP sifarish. If everybody is pardoned, Rana Naveed should have been in the team (in the absence of Gul we need a reverse swing bowler) plus he is a handy late order batsman. Is Ilyas father-in-law of Imran Farhat one of the selector?

We don’t know details about Asad Shafiq and Umar Amin. Fawad Alam is the best no 5 ODI player was surprisingly ignored (as well as the best fielder). My playing XI will be:

ya thats what i heard, imran farhat has source backup. shoaib akhtar is definitaly in bcz of afridi, afridi openly and clearly stated that shoiaib akhtar will be part of team. shoaib malik is also bcz of sources from political personal.

i think we should stop talking about who have not selected or who should've been selected now we should look forward and start planning strageties.i dont think they should play rehman in any game all are asian team here they are genius against spinner like rahman they will thrash him.remember ind vs pak2007.what is ur thought on rahman?

Looking at the squad, its almost like the selectors and politicians reached a compromise deal -- 6 places up for grabs, we get 3 and you get 3. The politicians chose Shoaib Malik, Shoaib Akhtar and Imran Farhat. The selectors chose Asad Shafiq, Umar Ameen, Shazaib Hasan.

Its still good to see some new faces.. hopefully the quota for the selectors will increase and in future and less political choices are made.

We are practically going in with two fast bowlers, we all know how reliable Shoaib Akhtar is and less said about Razzaq's bowling better. So that just leaves Asif and Amir. They putting way too much pressure on Amir, I fear he will be over bowled and probably get injured by the time England tour starts.

i think they picked farhat and akhtar becuase afridi needs help in captaincy, they need senior player swho can guid him especially akhtar. but the weird thing is that they r gona play wiht only 3 bowlers in teh squad. but dont worry after teh srilankan game akhtar wil be injuired and irfan may get a shot.

and seriously wat teh hell do u mean by politicians. i dont think the squad is bad. yess we do need malik. he can atleast make 30 runs he is not bad. and beside hthe quad was confirmed by everyone the selectors , teh coach the capin even ijazz but confirmed this squad

well i think rehman improved that was like 3 years ago and rehman is bowling good rite now. ghenplayed good in the world t20 so lets see wat does he do now.

No dought its a good team but if they pick Mohd Irfan for Imran Farhat or Abdul Rahman because We dont have choice in Fast bowling and they selected somany batmen, 4 openers are in the team why just three fast bowlers are not enough. Mohsin Khan is liking more spining options rather than bringing new fast bowlers which is our stenth since Pakistan started playing cricket. Please Can any one Pass my messageto Mohsin Khan tel him he is a cheif selector of pakistan Cricket team not for Bangladesh...

Squad would have been perfect if there were no Farhat and Razzaq (one is just bad at limited overs, one is just past it). Good to see Younus wasn't picked - he's not cut out for the format anymore.

well... first of all... talkin abt how reliable akhtar is... he is a stranger who have won numerous matches for pak alone...its jus his body which doesnt support him at times... nd i bet u bowl like him for an hour nd i'll ask u how good is ur fitness...
or lets put it this way... we shud 1st see how much good r we doin to our country rather than criticising some1 who has done quite alot for his country...
nd as far as puttin pressure on ammer is concerned... how much pressure can u possibly put on a guy in an ODI??? ask him to bowl 15 overs???
nd lets not forget, sri lankan pitches arnt too quick so we wont be gettin too much from ammer anyway... asif is pretty useless too... ever tried considering his performances in odis lately???

y cant akhtar just retire now. he had his time, he wasted his years in taking steroids and bans.

Man,Asif singlehandedly won test series in SLanka in 2006. we were like staring at a defeat and Asif bowled SL out for 80 something. Asif picked great number of wkts in that series and was man of the series too!!
As far as Shoaib is concerned, I agreee he has done a lot for the country and he is my fav player too but you should not take credit away from Asif and Aamer either.
As far as wkts in sLanka are concerned . they support all types of good bowling. we saw that last time , seamers like kulasekra and thushara made life difficult for batsmen and conditions assisted them too as they did for Asif when he was there in 06.
On the topic, there are only pacers in the 15 men squad. If one of them gets injured , there should be a backup pacer (Sami or Irfan) . There are one batsmen too many in the 15

what is imran Farhat doing in the Squad?

I have now reached a stage where I do not care about team selection. It does not have a major affect on Pakistan's performance.

Unity and moral is much more important to Pakistan's success as unfortunately it comes as standard with most teams. Without this we will never win a tough series / tournament.

I think they should stop bothering with shoaib akthar and started thinking about the future! i really dont know what goes through those selectors minds in selecting the squad! it is terrible! imran farhat is a waste of time! we need freshh blood....

Salman Butt is the Vice Captain of the side now and will definitely play all the matches of Asia Cup. Kamran akmal will open with Salman butt .. I dont know why selectors chose Imran Farhat for Asia Cup..
