Well, everyone was a bit surprised. 10 or 15 more odd runs and the game would be ours. The sun was shining, and we know very well what damage the morning session could do. So considering these factors, do you think not taking the extra half hour was sensible..

Yes, absolutely. We had just lost 2 wickets, and Aussies were ready to apply some serious pressure. Best to shut shop, and come back fresh. InshahAllah, we will win this one. I will not take anything for granted, because this is Pakistan, and we tend to fall from the most bizare positions. But it does look good. Too bad Amin got out.

Maybe yes, but considering the fact that morning session is the most difficult to negotiate, wouldn't it been better if we had rendered the target harmless.

The forecast for tomorrow is good. Dont flash at anything outside offstump, and play the ball on merit. We need both Umar Akmal and Azhar Ali to play themselves in by taking their time. But they should get whatever runs are on offer. It is only 40 runs, so they should look to get those runs by setting 10 run targets at a time.

Your point about taking the extra ½ hour makes sense if we were on top. If Farhat and Azhar were at the wicket, then yes. But loosing those 2 wickets to Bollinger, who was starting to get his rythm right, it was only sensible to call it a day.

I think it was a wise decision. Umar Akmal would have attempted to finish the match today and would have started going for too many shots. Not to mention the guys would have been under a bit of pressure after losing some quick wickets.

Ponting was getting excited and that can't be too good for a guy his age and Bollinger just managed to get into rhythm after the series is nearly over.

well bcz of the 2 quick wickets, i agree it was the right decision. tomm wont be any easier, bcz aussie will have a plan for us, and hopefully clouds are high.

but it'll give waqar and salman to huddle up and make the players mentally ready.

was very dissapointed in umar amin today! he needs to step up the game a bit. good pitch to bat w/ sun out and he couldnt last more than an over.

pak should had just played only 3 wickets were down and the bowlers were tired they should had taken advantage of it. Tommarow the bowlers will be fresh and may crate some preasure on batsman.

But on the other hand its also good for ijazz butt. tomarow more ppl will coem and more ppl wil buy tickets probably. So that will give some extra thousands to pcb.

but i think they should had played a little more

Ur rite .. But but .. This is Pakistan cricket team

One cud feel the camp would panic and do something bizarre ...

Rightly pointed by rizzy that umAr Akmal wud have got excited and wud try to spank each n every delivery ...
Batsmen to follow r gud ones but they r terribly outa form on this tour (especially kamran akmal)....
And shoaib malik ..... Less said better ...

Anyways inshaAllah we gona win tomorrow :d

Two or three shots, and the game would have been bagged for sure. surely with the sun shining as it was, and not much assistance to the bowlers, why wait for tomorrow. The Aussies were tired, and as i said only a couple of shots would have taken the game beyond the reach of the aussies. Now we face fresh bowlers, on the most dangerous session of the day. And our batters will have to start over. Two wickets and well anything can happen. Wouldn't it be better if we had utlized that half hour and rode home.

It seems like you are not getting the point. You are talking of tired australian bowlers. Bollinger, who has been a shadow of himself throughout this series, finally found some rythm, and nailed 2 wickets in 2 overs. What is more dangerous than facing a red hot fast bowler who has just found his rythm.

As I said earlier, if Farhat was at the wicket with Azhar Ali, and we were just 1 wicket down, then yes, the extra time should have been taken. They did the right thing. Besides, you are presuming that a couple of shots would have taken the game beyond Australia. Look at the other side of the coin. What if Australia had got another couple of wickets. Then surely you would have argued, why did we take the extra ½ hour, when stumps were offered.

it seems no one here know the new rule.

It is NOT upto the players to decide whether they want to take bad light. The UMPIRES decide if its good enough to play or not. Players don't get offered bad light. full stop.

No after day1 and day2 lost of over syou are allowed to play 30 mins extra to make up those lost overs, and its up to batsman to decide. Even the comentators said so

I think the rule is that the team can claim an extra ½ hour, if conditions allow to and victory is in sight.

i maintained not taking the extra time was a huge mistake. bowlers were tired, wicket was flat, there was no juice, we should have just grown a pair and got some some last night and called it a day.
today bowlers were juiced up, wicket was fresh and hence sideways was full on

I still think, going back to the pavillon yesterday without claiming the extra ½ hour was correct. The main thing is, we won. Cheer up, lets celebrate.
