The PCB are holding a 3 week camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. 24 of the most promising players in Pakistan have been selected to take part in this camp.

Recently all 24 players took part in a 50 over game. Due to the unbearable Lahore heat, the game was split into two halves and played over two days. The 24 players were split into two balanced teams of 12 with 11 batting and 11 bowling, the teams were called NCA Panthers and NCA Tigers.

The NCA Panthers were captained by Shahzaib Hasan and they batted first opening with Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam. Although the track was a typically flat Lahore road they were facing some top quality fast bowlers. Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Talha opened the bowling for the NCA Tigers but were unable to create any early breakthroughs.

Sharjeel Khan scored a fast 75 runs off just 62 balls whilst at the other end Babar Azam made a more sedate 61 from 93 balls. Both openers were proving hard to dislodge till they charitably decided to gift their wickets to the Tigers by both getting run out. Shahzaib Hasan came in at number 3 and Shehryar Ghani was in at 4. Shahzaib scored 57 runs off 64 balls before edging one to the keeper off Talha’s bowling and Ghani made 40 runs off 40 balls before Talha scalped him too.

Coming in at number 5 was the Panthers wicketkeeper and he has a familiar surname, that’s right it was Adnan the elusive third Akmal brother. Adnan was playing in the same side as his younger cousin Babar Azam and played a typical Akmal innings. He scored 36* off just 24 balls.

Sarmad Bhatti suffered a small niggle whilst bowling and was unable to complete his 7th over so Mohamamd Irfan stepped in to deliver the last 4 balls. The Panthers innings was completed on the second day as they’d only been able to play 40 overs on the first day. NCA Panthers made 327/5 in 50 overs.

The NCA Tigers were captained by Azhar Ali and opened their batting with u19 captain Azeem Ghumman and u21 captain Umar Amin. Umar scored 58 runs off 59 balls at almost a run a ball before he was run out bringing captain Azhar Ali to the crease. Azhar scored 38 runs off 40 balls before Yasir Shah got him. In at 4 was Rameez Alam who upped the tempo with a quickfire 31* off just 24 balls.

Whilst all this was going on, Azeem Ghumman stood at the other end blasting the bowling to all parts. Azeem really is in the form of his life and smashed a potentially match winning 122 runs off 116 balls before being dismissed by Junaid Ilyas. The NCA Tigers were well on course for victory after 46 overs, they were 298/4. But bad light saved the Panthers and the game was abandoned without a result.

The Panthers opened their bowling with 2006 u19 World Cup superstar Anwar Ali and Junaid Khan but on this dead track both struggled to make any inroads. Check below for the full scorecards.
